The leaders of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) are nearly five times more likely to recruit staff in the next three months than larger businesses according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s latest Labour Market Survey. SMEs scored 52 on the CIPD’s net employment balance compared to 11 for bigger businesses.
In addition 48% of bigger companies were suffering from a skills shortage compared to 31% for SMEs.
At Downtown Recruitment we have seen a steady rise in demand over the last 6 months for temporary staff including general office, and industrial staff with particularly high demand (and a shortage) for catering staff. Our permanent division has also seen a continued higher demand for permanent staff over the last six months too.
